Responsibilities 

  • Manage, investigate, evaluate, and design remediation for damaged or deteriorated structures, spanning historic to modern building systems.
  • Independently conduct field investigations to gather data related to structural products, conditions, and dimensions.
  • Utilize modern evaluation techniques such as petrography, LIDAR scanning, and other advanced tools.
  • Perform structural analysis (by hand calculations and commercial software) to evaluate the strength and serviceability of timber, steel, masonry, and concrete systems.
  • Author clear, concise, and well-organized technical reports with easy-to-understand language.
  • Collaborate directly with clients as a liaison to the firm’s Principals, ensuring clear communication and excellent client service.
  • Lead the development of construction documents for repairs and remediation with support from engineers and drafting technicians.
  • Review shop drawings and oversee contractor work during construction to ensure compliance with design intent and project goals.
  • Maintain a Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Projects are primarily located in-state, with occasional travel as required.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Licensing: PE or SE registration required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years' experience in the design of building structures.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Familiarity with IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, TMS, and NDS codes.
    • Proficiency in Revit, RAM, and/or RISA is a plus.
    • Experience with multiple construction types, including steel, concrete, masonry, and mass timber, is highly desirable.
    • Experience in production of construction documents (drawings and specifications).
  • Skills: Strong analytical, technical writing, and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Valid driver’s license.
    • Physical dexterity with the ability to stand for prolonged periods of time, ascend/descend ladders and scaffolding, balance, kneel, and crouch.
  • Bonus: Background in construction is a plus!
