Job Description

SENIOR STRUCTURAL ENGINEER (Technical)

Serves primarily as a technical resource to managers and partners, assisting engineering staff with technical issues;  manages projects as required

 

Requirements:

  • BS degree in Civil, Structural, Architectural Engineering or Related Field

  • MS degree in Structural Engineering or Civil with Structural Concentration

  • Professional Structural Engineer License and structural engineering competency

  • Demonstrated effective time management, code interpretation, and communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates all activities with senior staff

  • Oversee, direct production of, and review project deliverables in accordance with Shear standards 

  • Oversees and reviews structural analyses and design calculations, determines Shear standards in conjunction with senior leadership 

  • Reviews construction administrative tasks, including field site visits and shop drawing review in accordance with Shear standards 

  • Research and evaluate new code requirements, products, and standards, make recommendations to managing partners, and ensure implementation of changes across firm

  • Write articles and/or make conference presentations and participate in creating in-house employee development courses

  • Leads in-house technical resource management (typical detail library, spec content, general notes, workflows)

  • Provides peer reviews for design/determines design criteria

  • Determines design approach for complex/challenging project items

  • Serves as technical resource for all levels of staff
