Job Description

Bailey and Son Engineering, Inc. is a consulting structural engineering firm looking for a Structural Engineer to design and manage a variety of industrial and commercial projects.  Candidates typical responsibilities include: 

  • Establishing and determining cost-efficient structural systems and components.
  • Designing buildings and structures using structural steel, reinforced concrete, reinforced masonry, and wood framing.  
  • Designing equipment and PEMB foundations, and CFS components.
  • Performing structural assessments of existing facilities.
  • Coordinating with architectural and mechanical drawings. 

Typical projects:

  • Light and heavy manufacturing facility structures and machine foundations
  • Primary, secondary and higher education – academic / educational facilities and sports arenas and stadiums
  • Cold storage, food and beverage facilities
  • Municipal and civic projects
  • Office buildings
  • Medical facilities and hospitals
  • Ecclesiastical facilities 

Good written and verbal communications are necessary since the position will be filled with a person who can: 

  • Prepare technical reports.  
  • Manage and work with designers.
  • Communicate verbally and coordinate with owners, architects, and other professionals as well as contractors for design-build and design-bid projects.   

Structural engineering software currently used in-house includes RISA, Tekla Tedds, Enercalc, etc. Drawings are produced with both Revit and AutoCAD software.  Microsoft Excel, Word, and MathCAD programs are also utilized. 
 
 
Experience: P.E. (or ability to obtain licensure) with a minimum of 5 years of experience preferred 
Education: Minimum B.S. in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on Structural Engineering 
Location:  Greenville, SC
