You have demonstrable engineering expertise evidenced by:
a mastery of statics and a solid understanding of the dynamic behavior of structures, including nonlinear behavior;
an ability to solve engineering problems independently, with a system of QA/QC to catch errors in a timely manner;
an ability to effectively communicate engineering design and understanding through the use of thoughtfully laid out details and calculations, and / or well-written technical reports.
a proven ability to take independent, responsible charge of increasing proportions of a project;
a familiarity with the different project phases with an awareness of the variable expectations at each phase;
an awareness of project budgets and the ability to tailor work to meet them;
depending on depth of experience, a facility with AutoCAD, Revit, and a variety of engineering analysis programs, including RAM Structural System, RAM Concept, and RISA; and a good understanding of current standards of practice, including ASCE 7, ASCE 41, CBC, ACI, AISC, and NDS.
Responsibilities: A project engineer is expected to deliver small projects and assist in delivering larger, more complex projects with increasing exposure to managing both projects and a project team, while actively contributing to and shaping the health and effectiveness of project teams, and becoming a technical resource to the overall office.
Depending on experience and position, responsibilities include: the creation and/or revision of calculations, drawings, and specifications from conceptual design to construction documents and plan check responses; construction administration tasks under close supervision and coordination with their project manager; the planning and performing of all necessary tasks on smaller projects, and coordinating sets of tasks with other PEs and the project manager on larger projects; managing their personal time and effort in completing assigned tasks and/or coordinating the tasks required to complete project assignments.
Compensation: The starting salary range for this position is $85,000 - $100,000, before any eligible bonuses. Salaries are based on factors such as experience, education, skills, and (in rare cases) geographic location.
